Forbidden Keyword: Lesbian!

So I'm staying at a Residence Inn hotel for work. I should also mention I'm in the South, but in a specific town that is relatively Liberal. They have a community computer that you can print from, where I was at this afternoon for a while printing some mammoth report.

Anyways, I was blog trolling - I've just discovered blogs and I'm massively entertained - and got blocked from one site for it being trans, then another site for having Lesbian as a tag.

The way it came up was especially infuriating : FORBIDDEN KEYWORD: LESBIAN! like this was violating some ancient religious rite of web crawling. So yeh, even though I'm straight now, I'm still not so much a fan of hetero-sexism.

Hehe, yeah, I had the same thing happen to me a while back. I was surfing my usual list of blogs and I kept on getting these "ACCESS DENIED: LESBIAN" "ACCESS DENIED: TRANSSEXUAL" messages. Fun stuff, knowing that you're somehow deemed bad for the kiddies.

I wonder if they are actually trying to block access to pages talking about lesbian issues and concerns (like a lesbian oriented blog or forum), or if they are just trying to block porn on a public access computer.

If you google lesbian, it will suggest "girl on girl action" as an alternative search, and I suspect there are lots of porn pages with "lesbian" with a keyword...

Hey Yosephina, fwiw I was trying to access a mainstreamish blog site when that came up.

Yosephina: there's a really neat indie band from Toronto that's almost entirely ungoogleable because the search terms all belong to porn: It's called 'Two Nice Girls,' the members are lesbians, and their first album is called 'Chloe Likes Olivia'. :->

Well, you know you're in the south, that's for sure.

Don't you just love a "free society"? */snark*

I didn't assume otherwise (actually, I'd be pretty surprised if you were looking for lesbian porn). I just meant that someone might have put "lesbian" on a forbidden keyword list because it often shows up as a keyword on porn sites.
